ABOUT ALUNA

Aluna Holistic Therapy Centre began life in 1989 in one room of our house in South Manchester.
Aluna started as a place for Carole to see her homoeopathy clients, and expanded to
accommodate other therapists looking for a suitably calm and pleasant environment in which to practise.
A year later Trevor had designed and built a Floatation Tank which proved very popular and attracted more people to
Aluna. Meanwhile he was training in various Light Touch therapies, and before long Trevor also
had a busy practice.
Aluna seemed to take on a life of it's own and soon grew to be a thriving
alternative centre, which was encroaching on our house to such an extent that we found
ourselves living in the attic!! In 1995 we moved to our present premises which will comfortably
accommodate a whole range of therapists, and where we can hold occasional workshops and
other group events. The Floatation Tank has moved with us and is our "silent therapist".
Aluna currently offers Acupuncture, Alexander Technique, Aromatherapy, Art Therapy, Bowen
Technique, Counselling, Floatation, Flower Essence Therapy, Homoeopathy, Hypnotherapy,
Meditation, Orthobionomy, Psychotherapy, Reflexology, Reiki, Remedial Massage, Spinal Touch
Therapy, and occasional workshops and courses.
Our aim at Aluna is to be able to offer a
comprehensive range of holistic therapies provided by competent, well-trained and properly
insured practitioners, in surroundings conducive to healing and relaxation. We also believe that its
important to provide guidance to those who are new to these alternative treatments, and to
encourage the spread of information and awareness of alternative lifestyles, philosophies and
strategies for healing and personal growth.

WHO WE ARE
|
CAROLE HENCHY BA (hons) RSHom qualified in homoeopathy at the North West College of Homoeopathy in 1989, and has been accepted onto the Register of the Society of Homeopaths.
She has been a Vice Principal and lecturer at
the North West College, and now as well as practising at Aluna, she also
sees clients at the Jewish Cultural Centre in Salford, serving the Orthodox
Jewish Community. As well as using classical homoeopathy, Carole also
sometimes uses flower essences, (Bach Flower Remedies, California Flower
Essences and Australian Bush Flower Essences) when appropriate, and finds
this can enhance and support homoeopathic treatment.
|
TREVOR WORMAN BA (Hons) practises various forms of Light Touch Therapy. Dependent upon individual problems or requirements, he may use any of the above techniques.
He is a qualified teacher of Spinal Touch Therapy and Orthobionomy,
has been a member of the Bowen Research Group and served on the Council of

WHERE WE ARE
Our centre is situated in a quiet and leafy part of West Didsbury in South Manchester, which is easily accesible via Motorway, Airport, and Public Transport. In addition to a full range of holistic therapies, we are able to offer
spacious and beautifully decorated rooms suitable for individual therapy sessions, group
workshops, classes, talks, etc.

ABOUT THE NAME-ALUNA
The name for our Centre comes from a word used by the Kogi Indians, a
pre-Colombian tribe who have been living in isolation high in the
mountainous jungles of Colombia, preserving a culture and philosophy long
thought lost. They refer to themselves as the Elder Brothers of the human
race, and to the rest of us as the Younger Brother. They see themselves as
the guardians of life on Earth, and they have recently made contact with
the modern world in order to deliver a message, a warning to us all that
unless we change our ways the balance between mankind, nature and the
spiritual world will be destroyed and life on Earth with it. This warning
was delivered in a remarkable BBC documentary entitled "The Heart of the
World", and in a book of the same name by Alan Ereira. (ISBN
0-224-02908-8)
The concept of "aluna" is central to their spiritual philosophy and their
creation story. It appealed to us because it describes a universal energy
much like the vital energy which alternative therapists must affect to
bring about a holistic cure of body, mind and spirit.
"Aluna contains everything which is past and everything that may become.
Aluna is intelligence; it is the concentrated thought and memory which
forms a bridge between the human 'spirit' and the universe, but it is also
the hidden world of force which govern the world's fertility. Aluna makes
possible growth, birth and sexuality; it is the spiritual energy that makes
things happen. ..... Aluna was and is the Mother."
"In the beginning, there was blackness.
Only the sea.
In the beginning there was no sun, no moon, no people.
In the beginning there were no animals, no plants
Only the sea.
The sea was the Mother.
The Mother was not people, she was not anything.
Nothing at all.
She was when she was, darkly. She was memory and potential.
She was aluna."
