ABOUT DAMANHUR

Damanhur is a long-established social, spiritual and artistic community in Northern Italy. Like many others in the UK, we first came across Damanhur in two remarkable articles which appeared in Kindred Spirit in 1996.

The articles told of their incredible achievement of secretly building a vast and beautiful underground temple, and of the part the temple plays in their research projects into various areas of esoteric physics which, the articles disclosed, includes time travel! So much interest was generated by these two articles that Kindred Spirit organised a conference in Devon where the Damanhurians were to speak about their life and work for the first time outside Italy. Our attendance at that conference made us determined to visit and find out more about this amazing community.

We attended a fascinating workshop in London concerning their theory of personalities, and in May 98 we finally got to Damanhur to attend the World Gathering of Holistic Centres. The Gathering was a welcome opportunity to talk to and share ideas with people from all over Europe who shared some common goals and very diverse ways of achieving them. The high-spot was of course experiencing the Temple of Mankind, but what left the deepest impression was to see at work this successful federation of communities, numbering over 800 people bringing creativity, spirituality and fun into balance in their daily hard-working lives, and achieving such positive results.

The open-hearted happiness so evident in the people of Damanhur spoke more eloquently of the integrity and wisdom inherent in their way of life than words can do, so we can only urge you to visit and see for yourself!

The Damanhurians are also very keen to take interested groups around the Temple, and would welcome requests from groups to use the Temple for suitable purposes. For example, a group of zero balancers from England gave and received treatments in the Temple, and found the effects greatly enhanced by the Temple's energy. If you can think of something you'd like to do in the Temple, it's worth asking, because the Damanhurians are very open to new ideas.
